HOTELS

The idea of water damage occurring in a hotel is inevitable, and happens a lot more often than its customers think. So to maintain a safe, comfortable and clean environment for its guests, the management should take action to ensure that incidents involving water or fire damage are taken care of as soon as possible. Moisture has a knack for getting into places that it normally wouldn't be in, and there could be water damage resulting in flooding, burst pipes and even equipment damages. Basements and crawlspaces aren't safe from the backflow of a faulty sewage system, whether done as a prank or it happens by accident. It is these things that costs hotels hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. This translates into significant losses in business, as there is no guest that would prefer to spend their nights in a poorly-maintained hotel.

What Happens when Water Damages Hotels?

When moisture and humidity are out of control, this can lead to structural damage, and mold growth, which can be risky and lethal for the guests and employees. Mold can cause wood to rot, paint to peel from the walls and if left alone for too long, it can lead to the expedited deterioration of the entire building. Hotel water damage can also cause significant problems for the electrical wiring system, and can turn into a potential fire hazard. It can cost hotels much more to have constant repairs going on, so maintaining the entire building and having a highly qualified repair team at the ready for mishaps is the best possible plan against further losses.

Creating a Hotel Contingency Plan with S&J Builders

To avoid these things from happening, it's important that your hotel can prepare and practice a good contingency plan, so that all the employees and managers are ready to handle any incoming emergencies. It's important that everyone be aware of what to do in case of fire or water damage. If possible, your employees also must know first aid, so that if there are any sick or wounded people during hotel evacuation, they can be given quick treatment before being brought to a hospital, if needed.

It's also important for your hotel to have a contingency plan that is practiced daily. It is also a good idea to invest in communication devices, to have backup generators and a first-aid station set up at your chosen evacuation point, so that the sick and wounded are taken care of immediately. To this end, as long as there is commercial restoration to be done, rest assured that we of S&J Builders will be there, at your service.
